Mounting and Maintenance

INSTALLATION
The turntable should be installed on a leveled surface of the frame which is resistant to twisting or radial movement forces
At least 50% of the flange peripheral areas have to be supported load bearing zones to ensure an adequate force transfer. The support zones must be evenly distributed in the travel direction. Unleveled surface of the frame bigger than 1mm should be leveled through machining or compensated by metal strips.
If the turntable ring has no holes, make sure:
- that no metal chips or cutting fluid enters the raceway and the seals are not damaged .
- that no holes are made close (+/- 20 mm) to the ball insertion hole or close to the welds.
The type plate and the filler hole should be placed at 90° to the direction of travel outside the main load carrying area. The grease nipples should be easy to access.
At least 8 bolts should be used on the undrilled turntables. Use bolts of strength class 8.8 to fasten the turntable. The bolt connections must be secured using well proven methods to prevent loosening. If used in difficult conditions we recommend using higher number of bolts.
The turntable rings should not be welded!
Painting
Remel’s turntables are either primed or painted. If the client paints the turntable himself for low maintenance version he must ensure that the drying process takes place in controlled conditions with a max. temperature 75 °C. If the washers have been glued by the paint, release them starting at the edge with an instrument.

MAINTENANCE
Standard Turntables
Standard turntables are supplied with a full charge of grease. Nevertheless additional greasing is required when used for the first time. Turntables must be greased with high quality grease (lithium saponified, NLGI consistency class 2) at least every 8,000 to 10,000 km or once per month.
- Bolt connections are to be checked regularly but at least after 40,000 km of travel.
- Check for signs of wear, corrosion, damage or cracks regularly.
Low Maintenance Turntables
Low maintenance turntables are supplied with a full charge of grease, which, in combination with the two washers, provides that they require no maintenance for up to three years or 300,000 km in normal conditions. No greasing is required when used for the first time.
After surpassing the above maintenance-free time/distance the turntable must be greased thoroughly. If low maintenance turntables are used in heavy duty conditions or treated directly with high pressure equipment it is important to grease the turntable again immediately. Around 30°C is the optimal temperature to that guarantees perfect penetration of grease in the system.
- After the elapse of 3 years or 300,000 km. operation or after the first greasing due to exceptional environment or high pressure cleaning the greasing should take place at least every 8,000 to 10,000 km or once per month.
- Bolt connections are to be checked regularly but at least after 40,000 km of travel.
- In cases of heavy road conditions use, we advise carrying out additional interim lubrications within the 3-year servicing-free period.
- Check for signs of wear, corrosion, damage/cracks regularly.
If you use a central greasing unit you should use a high quality roller bearing grease (lithium saponified, NLGI consistency min. 1).
Turntables are wear parts. Regular and deep lubrication is important to ensure their long service life. If the gap size reaches its minimum value this shows that the wear limit has been hit. This occurs latest when at any point on its circumference the horizontal gap X has reached the following value:
Standard maintenance: | Minimum air gap X – 0.00 mm |
Low maintenance: | Minimum air gap X – 2.00 mm |
